Powder
By now you know that bed bugs are small nocturnal insects that feed on the blood of people and other warm-blooded hosts. Bed bugs are usually active only at night, with a peak attack time about an hour before dawn. Although given the opportunity, they may attempt to feed at other times of day too.
Bed bugs are attracted by warmth and carbon dioxide. The bug pierces the skin of its host with two hollow tubes. With one tube it injects its saliva, which contains anticoagulants and anesthetics. With the other, it withdraws the blood of its host. After feeding for about five minutes, the bug returns to its hiding place. The bites cannot usually be felt until minutes or even hours later until there is a dermatological reaction to the injected agents. Although bed bugs can live for up to 18 months without feeding, they typically seek blood every five to ten days. Females can lay up to five eggs in a day and 500 during a lifetime.
Look for powder treatments such as an indoor insect killer that is a fast acting bed bug killer. Often the majority of products take days or even weeks to work, but there are some products that kill bed bugs and other insects in minutes! Spending $25 to eliminate your bed bug problem is much cheaper than a professional exterminator or new mattress!
