Treat Bed Bugs

Are You Safe From The Bed Bug Bites?

Archive for the ‘Uncategorized’ Category

Question from a reader: Unfortunately, I think I have bed bugs. I had been itching and had big welts on my arms, legs, and neck. The other night I saw a bug on my chair. After searching on the Internet, I found out it is a bedbug. With 6 children in my house, ranging from two to 12 years old, I am obviously concerned about their welfare. Is there a safe way to kill the bugs without it affecting them?

Answer: You should call the professionals. Orkin has a method they use that will use hot and dry steam in the places people touch. Chemicals will be used in other spots to flush out the little creatures. This is a much safer way to treat bed bugs. You don’t want to take any chances especially with your children. Treat Bed Bugs

Jul-6-2009 By admin

How do you get rid of bed bugs, you ask. Well, first of all, let us answer the all important first question many people have…Are bed bugs real? Unfortunately, yes, they are. They are insects that feed on human beings blood. They also feed on poultry and other warm blooded animals.

Bed bugs’ bites can’t be immediately felt. Isn’t that nice? They are nocturnal insects and can live in both tropical and temperate climates. More good news. Bedbugs are attracted to body heat and carbon dioxide. Yes, that would be us…people.

Here is a gross part - the bugs are equipped with 2 hollow tubes which are for the extraction of blood. One tube injects saliva and the other one sucks the blood from the human body. The bites cause itching sensations which can last for awhile and cause skin infections. Stress and insomnia are common reactions to the bites.

A very common problem that people face are infestations of bed bugs. This causes sleeping disturbances since an intense itching is felt. An unclean room may be the number one cause, but there are other causes as well. For example, bed bugs are often found in areas where birds or mammals have nests. The bed bugs can easily be transferred from animals to human homes.

So how do you get rid of these nasty little bugs. Start by treating with pest control insecticides regularly. Clean your house. Reduce clutter and sanitize the place. Vacuum more often. Treating for bed bugs may not be pleasant, but it is possible to rid yourself of the problem. Check out the other pages on our site for even more information.

How Do Bed Bugs Get In Your House

Jul-1-2009 By admin

Bed bugs are making a resurgence in the larger cities of the USA. Although filthy homes can conribute to their existence, there is another way the bugs can get here. The bigger cities have more transient travel attracting visitors from around the world. This increases the chances of bed bugs making their way to your home if you visit one of the big cities. How? Often, bed bugs are found in hotels and then travel to your house on your clothes and in suitcases. Once they are here, you have to go to work immediately to get rid of bed bugs. Washing all of your clothes in hot water and treating with a pesticide treatment is a good start. But if the problem gets out of hand, call the professionals.

Every morning I wake up with more and more bites on me. Earlobe, arm, back, legs… They itch but are not painful. Yesterday I took all my covers off and saw a small, triangular, brown bug. It looked like a bed bug but not one I had seen before. I'm thinking of using a Bug Bomb (also known as a Fogger) to get rid of them, but my friend said they will return later on. Is there a permanent way to get rid of bed bugs?

Purchase a plastic, zip up cover for your mattress. The cover will prevent any more critters from infesting your mattress, and the ones that may already in your mattress will die along with the dust mites. Should you decide to purchase a new mattress altogether, get the cover on it and you won't have any problems with them in the future.

Further to a previous posting I still have bed bugs who appear on a alcove area next to my bed. I have spent hundreds on diy kits, sprays, foggers, powder but still they turn up the next day. I got in a professional pest controller, but again they came back next day.So I am at a loss as to how to get rid of them once and for all.

Summer,

Not sure what you tried already.

You may end up needing an exterminator again to deal with this but I think you should look at some do-it-yourself options that you can spray on your furniture including your mattress to see if it is salvagable.

There are several chemical free bedbug products available. The one that I have used is called BedBug Terminator and it is sold online by a company called Kleen-Free. It will kill the bedbugs on contact as well as their eggs. You just spray it everywhere for a few days.

You do need to be patient and persistent with this or any treatment as bedbugs hide well and can go weeks without feeding.

Also, not sure if you live in an apartment and if the bedbugs have spread or not but everyone needs to treat them and not just you - maybe you can split the cost of whatever you choose. They could be coming back because they are in an adjoining room.

Good luck.

Sue

Been having some bedbugs problem lately so just wondering what i can use against these bites.

This link will show you how to deal with bed bugs. The info comes from Harvard University's Department of Health: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/

Do you know of anything that will effectively do the job?.. If so, please let me know as I've had with bed bugs. I can't even sleep right anymore. Any tips would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow,

Nine answers already and not one has said that eventually you may need an exterminator. Amazing.

But before you head that direction you may want to try to deal with this on your own with some chemical free products that are effective on bedbugs.

There are several sprays that kill them and their eggs on contact like BedBugTerminator by Kleen-Free and a few others.

Ultimately you may need to get an exterminator in which will be costly and will need you to leave your apartment for a day or two while the chemicals wear off but you may want to start off with a do it yourself solution that works.

Good luck and hang in there.
