Treat Bed Bugs

Are You Safe From The Bed Bug Bites?

Archive for the ‘how to kill bed bugs’ Category

I didn't even think these bugs existed in the US!

I just moved into an apartment complex, and the place had little bugs crawling around. I asked my landlord to spray, and he did. But I've done some research now, and I know they are bed bugs and they need special treatment.

Is there anything I can buy to kill them and stop them from coming back? They must be in my neighbors' apartments too.

HELP! I can't even sleep in my own place. I've been staying at a friend's.

You call the landlord and the health dept. NOW !!

How can you eliminate bed bugs(surot in tagalog)? The one that bites and sip blood and when you kill it with your fingers it stinks! *heh*

if you live some way that it is winter right now take off you sheet in the morning time and put them in the washer then take you mattress and box and stick them out side in the cold the colder the better, leave them out all day make sure they don't get wet. clean your room vacuum and wash everything. Bring your mattress and box back in after 5 hours or more, and hopefully there will be no more bugs left. If you find that you still have a problem then you will have to call a exterminator to come and spray your whole room. good luck

sorry about the former question, I think we found more bedbugs in our cottage. I think it is in our matresses which are old, but my question is that we had the cottage fumigated two years ago, and wondering if they are still with us. we live in north west canada and seem s the cold winters do not kill the bugs. The matresses are gone and rugs also.
hope this can help with my problem

Getting Rid of Bed Bugs-Once an infestation has occurred, patience and persistence is the key to ridding the area of bed bugs. It isn’t enough to clean the mattresses and launder the sheets. Furniture should be overturned and cleaned. Carpeting, wood molding, door jambs, picture frames, and closets should be inspected as well. Bed bugs can hide behind loose wallpaper, in the crevices between carpets and walls, behind outlet covers, and inside light fixtures, smoke detectors, and even clocks. Removable, washable items can be laundered in very hot water. For those areas or items which can not be laundered, smaller items can be wrapped in plastic and set in a hot place or in direct sunlight. The key is to raise the temperature to at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours to kill the eggs and the bugs. Vacuuming and steam cleaning may also be done, but any bags or canisters should be thrown away or emptied outside of the area immediately to prevent another infestation. The best method of removing bed bugs, however, is through a professionally handled treatment.
..Good Luck! =)

Don’t Try These Methods-Finally, there are several methods that are totally useless and shouldn’t even be considered. Bug bombs and aerosol pesticides will not rid an area of bed bugs. While extreme hot and cold temperatures may affect the infestation, below freezing temperatures will only work if those temperatures remain below freezing for over two weeks.

are bed bugs pink in colour too?

Sep-4-2008 By admin

Hi:
I had recently bed bug problem and managed to control them and get rid of them but sometimes i see tiny or small bed bug looking bugs that are pinkinsh in colour and one time one of them i found feeding on my foot before I killed it. My old bed bugs were the normal brownish dark red bugs as seen in pics and are uslay seen but these are pinkish in colour. So are these bed bugs too or something else? Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Bed bugs can, actually, be any type of bug in which rests in your bed! They are more commonly very hard to see with the naked eye. Basically, if your bed has any type of bug in it, it's most likely a bedbug. There are different types of bed bugs, and all have the same tendency to feast on your live and dead skin cells or suck your blood. Lovely, isn't it :-|

If it was me, I would wash the sheets at least once a week and have an exterminator come out and spray your entire house, inside and out. A worse-case scenario would mean you would have to tent your house.

Bed bugs and children?

Sep-2-2008 By admin

I discovered bed bugs in our new home about a month ago, I went online and followed plenty of advice; how ever spraying 6 matresses with alcohol, vacumming everything and washing all bedding I am still finding a couple insects every few days.
I have 5 children and take pride in keeping their rooms in perfect condition. We don't alow clutter in our house so why have we been infested by these horrible insects? What is safe to use around children and their matresses that will kill these bugs permanently?

they could have came from any where and yes, you can see bed bugs.
go to the store and buy a few cans of RID spray, the kind you buy to treat lice and evenly spray the beds and the floor. make sure ther are no tears in the matresses or creases that are not getting sprayed. after a few days I would spray everything down again just to make sure you killed them all and untill the beds are fully dry i would have the kids camp out in your room or in the livingroom.
they are like getting rid of lice, some times it takes a few tries.
Good luck on geting rid of them!

i jst moved to some new apartments and i wastold they have bed bugs.i have already gotten bit quite a few times.i know they are bed bugs biting me.there are some blood stain smears on my bed to.i took my bed all apart and i didnt see any signs.then i took my tv stand apart, none then my computer desk, none.i really need help on how to find and kill these little bloodsucking bastards

You will only see them at night. Get up in the middle of the night and turn on the lights then you will see them.

1. Call an exterminator at the landlords expense.
2. Demand your deposit back.
3. Throw out your mattress & box spring.
4. Move to a new apartment and sue this one for replacement of your mattress & box spring.
