How to Eliminate Bed Bugs

Jun-22-2011 By admin

The question that comes up often is why do most people wait until they have bed bugs before they do anything about it. Well, it is a very simple answer. They do not know that they have bed bugs. They do not recognize the symptoms. Before you learn to get rid of bed bugs you should first learn bed bugs’ behaviors.

These nasty little blood suckers are very tiny. Their size is an amazing 5 micro millimeter on average and they usually live in moist warm areas. Where? Like your bed, closets, carpets and sometimes inside your bedroom furniture. And there are often many of them, like several million in bad infestations.

To get rid of bed bugs so you don’t get any bed bug bites, start by cleaning your bedroom. Clean your pillow case, mattress and cover them with dust protected materials. It is also recommended that you should take your bed sheets outside, where they can get some sunshine during the day. The sunbeams help to kill the bedbugs.

Next, make sure you wash your bed sheets in hot water preferably once a week. Be aware that if you send you’re bedding to a clean service that could be a source for more bed bugs. So it’s better to do it on your own. Vacuuming thoroughly is also highly recommended.

If you have rugs, you may need to throw them out. The bugs often retreat to the area between the rug and the floor during the day. There are many carpet sprays for bugs, but if worse comes to worse, call the exterminator before the bed bug bites.

Use a room spray , that smells very bad , Use the spray , of old stock . that helps you better. It really worked for me. Happy sleeping

thanks i regularly hoover the mattress and also change the sheets regularly

Just the thought of bugs on my bed kills me. Can you actually see them? Man I cant even sleep on my bed without thinking of bugs eating at my skin

I never see em’ but its creepy when they say you have like thousands of bugs in your bed

Help!!

My son’s room had a problem with bed bugs, and the biggest thing is that they live other places besides a bed. I mean like electrical outlets, carpets, cracks and crevices.
I saw on wikipedia that Diatomaceous Earth of the Food Grade quality dries out the bugs. I sprinkled it under the mattress between the box spring, along the floor boards, and in corners and crevices. He hasn’t had a problem since. I bought my supply off ebay.

I also read that Rubbing Alcohol kills the bugs, so I sprayed that and some bug spray around the outlets. I’m going to mix that DE with some oil and spray around the sockets too.

All that other stuff works temporarily but if you don’t get all the places they hide, you will always have a problem.

Bed Bugs are a time consuming pest to eradicate. They live in cracks and crevices around the bed and it isnt a matter of just spraying for them. Ideally, a new mattress is the go.
But as not everyone can afford to do that…wrap ur mattress up in black plastic and place it in the sun for a minimum 8hrs(the humidity and heat kills them)
While ur mattress is out in the sun wash all of ur bedding in hot water and if u can hire a steam cleaner do any rugs u have. Also steam clean any habourage site like the area where the wall meets the floor…the dont not always live in the bed..they are attracted to it at night when u hop in cause the body emits Co2.

If u cant afford a pest controller to come in go to ur local hardware store and get a product for bed bugs…I am in australia so i dont know what is available to u…and aerosol spray with a long thin nozzle to get into the cracks is great. But read all directions as most products used in pest management are toxic to fish…so be aware if u have any.

once u have done this do a complete inspection of ur mattress before putting it back in ur room. The stuff i use as a pest controller is safe to lightly spray on mattresses so if the label says u can…do so.

I hope this helps..I know it looks like alot of work but it really is…Bed bug treatments need to be thorough and usually require several treatment. But u are in the postion that u are in control of who comes into ur room, unlike hotels that have guests in the same room several time a week.
Good luck
***Bed Bugs can be a frustrating pest for a unlicensed person to eradicate…if all this looks to hard, ask your friends for recommendations for a pest controller to increases your chances of having an effective treatment done.

Getting rid of bed bugs?

I just woke up with little bugs crawling on me. I used What'sThatBug.com to identify them as bed bugs. I am terrified of little bugs that I can't see at all times, such as bed bugs. I am fine with larger bugs and animals, large spiders, mice, etc. but I aboslutely hate bugs like these.

Could I hire a professional to kill them for me? How much would it cost?

Check around for a procedure called Cryonite, it is claimed to freeze out bed bugs with a carbon dioxide white snow.
Here are the claims of the makers of Cryonite:

Can penetrate into deep cracks a crevices, baseboards, furniture etc.

Kills adults, larvae, and eggs on contact.
Leaves no toxic residue.

Treated area can be inhabited immediately after treatment

Talk to some people that have had the service and find out it it worked. If it works sounds like a safe non-toxic way to rid yourself of the bugs
