Bed Bug Bites
What do bed bug bites look like? One of the first symptoms of bed bug bites could be reddish marks on the skin. Often the bites are on the arms. Bedbugs like to bite very methodically in straight lines. These bites are in contrast to many other insects which bite in random patterns.
The risk of the bites aren’t a problem in that they don’t spread diseases. Rather, the bed bug bites can itch so much that a person can literally scratch the skin so hard that it will break open. That can then cause an infection. The other risk is that some people are allergic to bed bug bites.
Many people react differently to a bed bug bite. Some folks will see a rash-like appearance that is raised up and itches. These can appear on one specific area of the skin. This would likely be be the bed bug’s favorite spot as it will feast in that area. On the other hand, there are those people who experience little red welts all over their body. Then there are some folks who get whitish or pinkish bumps in a certain area.
It is very important to understand that bed bug bites can be difficult to diagnose, even by doctors. The itchiness is an allergic reaction to the chemical the bed bug injects during the bite. Bed bug bites usually show up in groups of three, called the “breakfast, lunch and dinner” pattern. To make recognizing the three bite pattern difficult is the fact that the reactions to the bites by some people causes a rash. The rash causes the bite marks to blend together in a big reddish spot.
Then there are those bed bug bites that are larger than others. Some are smaller and some bed bug bites have a red dot in the middle like a scab. Again, not all bites have this though. Some bed bug bites take on the look of a mosquito bite. While others can even look like a pimple.
Some experts have said that whether you get bed bug bites in patterns might have something to do with the bed bug being disturbed during the bite process. For example, if you move around during the feeding process, the bed bug may have to tart over. Lastly, if your veins are easily accessible to the bed bug, the process is much easier for the bug.
Remember, bedbugs do their work (feeding) at night. Therefore, bed bug bites do not appear until you get up in the next morning. Bed bugs are not dangerous except for the severe allergic reactions that some people have, or the effect scratching has. However, at the very least. bed bugs are annoying. So if you have them, get the facts and get rid of bed bugs fast.
