Treat Bed Bugs

I moved into an apartment about two months ago and recently I noticed small black bugs on the bed. I had an exterminator in who said they were not bed bugs. They are close to a window so I guess they could be coming from there. I've had my apt treated once but they are back. They are about 1-2mm wide and around 3-4mm long. They can run fast though generally fake dead when noticed. I haven't been bitten or anything. Any ideas on what they could be and how to get rid of them? (Also not ticks or cockroaches)
I think they are springtails but I can't be certain… and I have the exterminator coming back on thurs but he didn't get rid of them once so…

You know we can not identify them from that information.
YOU paid an exterminator and he DID NOT identify them.

If your out side the USA ??? but I;m sure there is government agency to protect and help you resolve such problems…
but I would be all over that exterminator…

Bed Bugs are a time consuming pest to eradicate. They live in cracks and crevices around the bed and it isnt a matter of just spraying for them. Ideally, a new mattress is the go.
But as not everyone can afford to do that…wrap ur mattress up in black plastic and place it in the sun for a minimum 8hrs(the humidity and heat kills them)
While ur mattress is out in the sun wash all of ur bedding in hot water and if u can hire a steam cleaner do any rugs u have. Also steam clean any habourage site like the area where the wall meets the floor…the dont not always live in the bed..they are attracted to it at night when u hop in cause the body emits Co2.

If u cant afford a pest controller to come in go to ur local hardware store and get a product for bed bugs…I am in australia so i dont know what is available to u…and aerosol spray with a long thin nozzle to get into the cracks is great. But read all directions as most products used in pest management are toxic to fish…so be aware if u have any.

once u have done this do a complete inspection of ur mattress before putting it back in ur room. The stuff i use as a pest controller is safe to lightly spray on mattresses so if the label says u can…do so.

I hope this helps..I know it looks like alot of work but it really is…Bed bug treatments need to be thorough and usually require several treatment. But u are in the postion that u are in control of who comes into ur room, unlike hotels that have guests in the same room several time a week.

***Bed Bugs can be a frustrating pest for a unlicensed person to eradicate…if all this looks to hard, ask your friends for recommendations for a pest controller to increases your chances of having an effective treatment done.

How to kill when my bed has a bed bugs?

Bed bugs are very tenacious and difficult to get rid of. You really need to hire an exterminator for them and it may require multiple treatment. Santinize every thing that has come into contact with the bed - sheets, curtains, carpet, etc.

I find them company but they tend to put any lady I invite home off

The answer is so obvious!!. When you have a lady friend coming round slip them a couple of quid to keep out of sight for a few hours.

Once an infestation has occurred, patience and persistence is the key to ridding the area of bed bugs. It isn't enough to clean the mattresses and launder the sheets. Furniture should be overturned and cleaned. Carpeting, wood molding, door jambs, picture frames, and closets should be inspected as well. Bed bugs can hide behind loose wallpaper, in the crevices between carpets and walls, behind outlet covers, and inside light fixtures, smoke detectors, and even clocks. Removable, washable items can be laundered in very hot water. For those areas or items which can not be laundered, smaller items can be wrapped in plastic and set in a hot place or in direct sunlight. The key is to raise the temperature to at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours to kill the eggs and the bugs. Vacuuming and steam cleaning may also be done, but any bags or canisters should be thrown away or emptied outside of the area immediately to prevent another infestation. The best method of removing bed bugs, however, is through a professionally handled treatment.

I live in apt.complex.my neighbor has bed bug problem but i don’t.exterminator coming next week to treat.I really don’t see its necessary for me to this treatment as I don’t go to my neighbours or any body else’s home or no one else is coming to my home from those neighbours.I know bed bugs lives where human lives to suck blood.due to my own care i really don’t have bed bugs problem.preparation they want me to do is lots of work and lifting etc that I can’t do due to my bad back.what should i do? they says they can take legal action to those who doesn’t comply.how come?

If only one apartment is fumigated, the bugs will just move next door. They come through he drain pipes, cracks in walls where pipes come in and out and under doors, crawl out windows, and back in your windows, etc.

If you don’t allow them to fumigate, they can evict you for providing an unhealthy environment for the other tenants, since the bugs will go into your apt. and then when the bug killer disperses, back into the other tenants apartments.

Not on my bed yet, i found some of them dead on the floor and inside the fur of stuffed animals. What should I do until the insect guy comes in two days?

Are you sure they are bedbugs? there are lots of insects that will live in a house.
If you are, the dead ones you have found may be cast nymphal skins,
Have you found red droppings on the bedclothes or noticed bites on your limbs?
Bedbugs are a problem best left to professionals, they get into the smallest gaps and are difficult to kill.
You will probably be best off if you start by boil washing everything you have in that room prior to the pest controllers visit.
They may want you to dispose of the bed, as that is more than likely the major harbourage.
Then all cracks and crevices should be dusted with insecticide prior to a spray treatment of the floor areas etc.
Be patient. there is no quick fix for bedbugs.
