Treat Bed Bugs

Are You Safe From The Bed Bug Bites?

Archive for September 22nd, 2008

I keep having the exterminator in, but the bugs are in my chair. What kind of material can I purchase to get past this problem?

I would really consider throwing the chair out.

The takehome points from the wiki page on them are these:
1.) These things are eating you. Owch and Itch!
2.) You might have some clutter that is keeping them around. Throw some stuff out.
3.) Apparently vacuuming might help.
4.) DDT worked on killing these, but apparently other pesticides don't kill them very well.
5.) Due to them being flat, they can hide really well in the fabric of the upholstery, carpeting, carpet padding, crack between the drywall and baseboard, etc. Apparently they're hard to get rid of.
6.) Often associated with international travel.

I would further suggest you read the following whole section as it provides a lot of advice about controlling bedbug infestations:

Good luck with your problem and I hope you can take care of it before they infest your bed/curtains/etc. (Females lay up to 5 eggs per day, with up to 500 in a lifetime.)

My friend and her family found bed bugs in their apartment. I think they got them from the people in one of the other apartments. I told them to call the landlord so he can send in an exterminator, but they don’t want to call because they are afraid that the landlord will kick them out of the apartment because of the bugs. Could he really do that?
I asked her - they don't have a lease, they go month by month or whatever it's called.

Only if the family has let the infestation go on so long that it is causing damage to the rental unit would they be kicked out.

by not calling the landlord they are probably in violation of the lease. Most lease have a section that states the tenant takes the responsibility to let the landlord know immediately if there are any conditions that make the unit unlivable. and if they don’t then they can kick them out to fix the problem.

tell them to get it taken care of. it will only get worse and they will only get in more trouble by waiting.

i got into bed one night and i started feeling itchy and burning mostly like lil flea bites biting me. 2 days later there are these lil red marks on me like lil pin stabs and then they turn into freckle like things. i have vacuumed my bed for dust washed the sheets in pure hot what and treated my bed for bed bugs and other nasty stuff what else can i do, i also feel itchy when i lay on other furniture and car sets and computer chair. Any ideas what it might be.
Ok i have resolved this problem i went and saw a doctor and he said it was a reaction to bed bugs and even now that they are gone and have been treated for i am going to be itchy and burning for a while due to the fact that the poison stays in my skin and when i get under blankets and lie on the funiture it warms the bites which causes a reaction in the poison. i was told to take lots of anti hesimein and it will be ok in a week seems to have settled down alot, thank you everyone for your help

If it's the lower part of your body (feet, ankles, legs), it is athlete's foot. If it's all over, then you are allergic to a type of fabric and need to go to the allergist doctor to find out what it is.
