can malathion kill bed bugs?

The best, and most effective way to control bed bugs is fire. Some municipalities seem to have a problem with this solution, and use terms like arson, and felony. Check with your local officials, and mortgage company before attempting this solution.

do I need to burn our house and make a new one?

Get a cat and your mouse problem will go away. Bed bugs, i think will always be there, but try to wash your sheets once a week, also vacuum and flip your mattress over. Hope this helps.

Dont' get me wrong, but I am a clean person for 9 yrs and never had a problem until last yr June 06'

I had my apt sprayed 2 times for bedbugs, as the result of eavesdropping that one neighbour across from me, came from another building and that bldg was bedbug infested. He brought them over. GGRRR!

The bedbugs are back this time. I was kicking and cursing at night, I was literally seething with anger, while neighbours squeel 'EW' when the word beg bugs returned.
Mentally and emotionally I was ready to shut down, and throw my college studies out the window, and all my clothes to the garbage, and whatever furniture that is not worth keeping because bedbugs love wood!

I have called two places to leave my name on a waiting list for counselling, I think my anger grew too strong that I could hurt myself, I had hit the wall in the past, and came close to hitting a long screw sticking out that would have smashed my knuckles, leave me nuthing but grief of operations.

I have had my battle with those critters in the past.
Trust me they can make you do some wild things.
One time they bit me so many times in one night.
I was literally on the brink of loosing my mind.
But then I got my house sprayed down for them.
Thankfully I have not had anymore problems with them.
I hope that you can defeat them as well.

How do you get rid of bed bugs?

In the last case scenario, an exterminator did come through here, but it was such a hassel having to put all clothing, linens, blankets away in plastic bags. Now these bugs are here again, and it's -10 outside. My roommate won't do the hassel again.
How can I take care of bed bugs myself? without the hassel? I just don't want to get bitten in my bed at night. What will at least help?

isopropyl alcohol, put it into a spray bottle and spray it all over the mattress and let it dry. this will kill the bed bugs and mites.

my wife and i just discovered that we were sleeping on an infested bed, infested with bed bugs and both of us have been bitten quite a few times over the last 2 months; thinking that we were getting bit by mosquitos we did nothing until yesterday(9/29/07) i threw out the WHOLE bed but her and i and i think our children all are still itching. I want to know what can we all do to rid ourselves of the itching? My wife an i both have brusing on various parts of our body, what can we do to heal ourselves an heal our skin?

Bed bugs like dark, warm, and sometimes damp climates. If your mattresses are old, there's a good chance they're living inside them (including the ones in your kids' rooms). When a bed bug bites, it injects an anticoagulant agent around the wound, just like a mosquito. This frequently leads to the bruising you're describing. They also emit a sickly sweet odor; well actually their waste does, so if you're smelling something sweet, yet acrid, in parts of your house, chances are there's a high concentration of them in that area. You'll need to get a fumigator in to do pest control. Toss the mattresses and clean all your bedding (including your pillows!) well. Do a thorough clean all through your house, taking special care of upholstry and carpets. This ought to take care of the situation.

When we moved my partner's bed and couch over from an old apartment building, which has now been torn down, we had not realized that the "bites" which I was getting were from bedbugs. We later found out that others in the "old" building had experienced even worse infestations within their units. I had seen a skin doctor -he thought it might be fleas; I also saw family doctor-she thought it was stress. A year ago, we moved the furniture into my home and since then, I have had a few bites, nothing compared to before. We have found bedbugs live and of course killed them, and continue to vacuum the bed, etc. Currently, we are doing a complete hot wash and inspecting the bed every day to get the live ones-also not using bed now. Short of costly extermination, I thought that if we apply bleach to the areas where there could be larvae, that this might kill "it" before it hatches. Compared to before, I rarely get bitten-they do seem to like me better. Any answers to this?

Yes, laundry bleach will kill larvae and eggs. Use a dilute solution…one part bleach to 10 parts of water. To clean hard surfaces such as bed frame, use an old sprayer bottle…and repeat frequently over several days. Air bedding often…in direct sun if possible. Also when you are at home in the evening, apply some baby oil to legs and feet to prevent bites. All bed clothing that can be washed in soap and water should have bleach added to the wash too.

does camicide kill bed bugs?

my building has bedbugs and i have a parrot and no bedbugs and plan to keep it that way. I know camicide is birdsafe, but does it kill bedbugs?

michele,

Good for you for taking preventative action. You will want to get the apratments next to you to do the same to keep the bedbugs that much further away if you have a good realtion with these people. Keep a large block of apartments trying to keep them away and everyone benefits.

Since you have a pet, you should avoid the use of chemical sprays and lean towards non-chemical enzyme based sprays that kill bedbugs on contact by dissolving their exoskeleton.

The ones that I see mentioned most are called Kleen-Free and they also ahve one called BedBug Terinator. Tehy canlikely tell you which is safest around yoru parrot but their site says they are safe to use around pets, etc so you should be fine. They are contact killers so youwould spray anywhere the bugs might be and if the spray hits them they should die. Not sure how often they say to spray for preventative. Again, contact them through their website and get some advice and maybe get yoru neighbours looking at the option as well so you keep the nasty little things as far away as possible,.

Good luck
