Treat Bed Bugs

Are You Safe From The Bed Bug Bites?

Archive for August 15th, 2008

I was watching the news last night and these people were eaten up by bed bugs all over their body from a hotel they stayed at and I dont want that to be me. I also know that it is the hotels job to be clean but I want to really make sure
jessie if you would have seen these peoples skin you would be afraid to it looked like they had the mosquito sized chicked poxs

By a plastic bed cover for the size of bed you plan to sleep in and take it with you. Place it on top of the hotel bed sheets and I would bring my own sheet, pillow, and blanket to sleep with. Then you know you are safe the bed bugs can not get through the plastic.

looking for inexpensive sprays one to kill bed bugs one to kill dust mites..need something that is not harmful to humans or pets..and would prefer people answering that have used certain products that have worked..want some quick results with something that actually works.

Here are some do-it-yourself methods you can try before you spray chemicals or have to call the exterminator. An exterminator will be able to get rid of bed bugs efficeiently and effectively. I had tried all sorts of sprays and home remedies before I just took the matters into my own hands. The kids had alot of allergies and this is what really helped keep our bed bugs at bay.

Thoroughly wash, vacuum or clean all surfaces and bedding.
Wash or dry-clean bedding and affected clothing. Use hot water and a dryer on the hottest setting whenever possible.
Vacuum mattresses, seal them in plastic and leave them outside in the hot sun for as long as possible.
Steam clean carpets.

I heard someone talking about using incense to suffocate the bedbugs and reduce the amount of spreading around during the wintertime..Could anyone confirm this for me, thx!

Incense will do nothing. Bed bugs do not just pop from no where, you would have to come across them to bring them home. Besides that the #1 solution to not let them get out of control is to have mattress covers that encases the mattresses. Most cases are being spread through hotels, most hotels are now gaining education on this pest and will reduce the cases through this avenue. Chemical companies & universities are working on solutions, since most chemicals are not specifically designed for bedbugs. There is also no increase in wintertime spreading of the bedbug.

I always thought it was just a joke like when people say "sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite" but I guess there really are such things as bed bugs. So I'm just wondering what they look like, where they come from, and what they do? Maybe it sounds like a stupid question, but I really want to know.

They are real. They live in infected bedding and bite you while you are sleeping

Hi, i searched for answers to this questio a while ago and got a great reccomendation here. it is a book - the complete guide to bed bugs. I dont have any problem at all now it was worth buying. I would give a copy but I think it would be ilegal. You can see it here http://bedbugs.selfhelpwarrior.com/

Bed bugs are a common problem but can be dealt with and eliminated by using the system described in the book.i hope this helps as bed bug bites aint funny, I know.

what chemicals should i use and how can i prevent them form coming back

I read an article on-line that said you need to wash your sheets and pillows in hot, hot, hot water and that you need to vacuum your mattress and box spring on both sides. You also need to clean your entire house and get rid of any pets (sorry fluffy) or take them to be groomed (washed and trimmed). If your kids have stuffed animals-stick them all in trash bags for a few months so that you suffocate the little pests. To prevent them from coming back you need to find a bug man that still uses a gel pesticide because that is the only thing that will kill them. The liquid stuff that we use now just doesn't do it. Also, check for bed bugs in the folds of the mattress (both sides) every time you stay anywhere other than your own house to make sure that you don't bring them home. If none of that works, there is a spray that you can buy off of http://www.deadbedbug.com that you spray on your mattress.
