How do I kill bed bugs?!?

Aug-13-2008 By admin

emergency! I have an infant baby and i need to know

bed bugs are a real problem.to the point that the insurance company's in Australia have advised pest controllers against treating bed bug due to the risk of getting sued.
i don't know of any products here available to the public to treat them…and i don't know of any herbal products .I'm happy to cede to anyone who knows more about alliterative products than me.
first step wash all bedding and clothes in the affected area in a hot wash.then wrap every thing you can in black plastic and place in the sun for the day including the mattress and bed frames……there is debate that on larger items like mattresses that because of there size they won't heat up enougth to kill them
bed bug hide in the bed frame joints, mattress seams ,tags, handles, furniture, skirting's,carpet edges, eletcrical fittings ,between walls ect …you would need to treat all these area and and other cracks and crevasses.
flow-able or wettable powders work best
i really don't think you can successfully treat them yourself…call a pest controller….and remember it will need to be treated at least twice apx 14 days between treatments..lol
sorry a little extra after reading the other answers ….beg bugs are quite large maybe upto a 1/4 of an inch and you will offten find the hiding places from the stains of the regurtated blood…don't buy a new matress untill the probloms solved or else they will just infest the new one as well

You can go to your local pharmacist and purchase some Bedding Spray. Wash sheets and bedding in hot water and dry them in the dryer. Spray the mattress well with the bedding spray, getting into the corners and tufts of the mattress well. Take beds apart and spray into all joints. Be sure to treat the baseboards and any carpeting underneath the bed as well.

Bedbugs have had a lot of attention lately. I've never seen one or experienced them, but they seem awful. What causes them? How are they prevented?

Bed bugs are NOT body lice. They absolutely cannot be spread from person to person. They're bigger than lice and don't live on the body, they bite in your sleep. During the day they "hide" under carpeting, rugs, furniture, etc.

Traveling is how people become exposed to bedbugs. Even if you've never been out of the country, if you stay in a hotel room where someone has they can get into your luggage and later on your home. They can be in any hotel, cheap or 5 star.

To avoid bedbug infestation in your home, when you travel keep your suitcases off the ground in the hotel room. When you get back home, keep the luggage in the garage or on the porch for a couple days. After you've emptied your clothing from the luggage, store it in a hall closet or attic when you're not using it.

without cutting the bed open or damaging the bed?
What are some signs of bed bugs, because I think I seen one on my bed along time ago, but I never seem more since!

I would imagine that you would have to flip the bed cover back fully and quickly to catch the little critters! hope that I never find any lurking in mine :-) Evidence of them show their castings and blood spots.

i want to stop the itching and redness quickly.

Hi, if you be sure that it’s not mosquitoes bites, that it bed bugs bites. So you can see the dried excrement of the bed bugs which showed up as dark spotting on the mattress, not to mention the tiny spots of blood and the smell of those spotting wasn’t either.

That, does mean that you need to keep our home clean. Regular vacuuming would help. Yet another way was to remove the infested mattress and cleaning it with a steam cleaner.

When there is a bed bug infestation, it is important to get rid of them fast. They mate and multiply faster than the bunnies, and can pretty soon over-run your home faster than you can run out of it.

The itching and redness quickly to stop… commercial products such as StingEze, calamine lotion, etc., will numb the area for a while. Or for an organic bed bug bites treatment, a thick paste of baking soda and water, or bleach and water, can reduce the pain and itching.

Spraying a topical (cortisone) or taking a systemic (oral) antihistamine (like Benadryl) will help prevent allergic reactions and swelling.

Will sevin dust kill bed bugs?

Aug-13-2008 By admin

I have found all kinds of information on bed bugs, Most say hire a professional exterminator (can't afford) burn your bed (it's almost brand new and also can't afford a new one) It was suggested to use sevin dust throughout the house and on the mattress then put a mattress cover over it. Any suggestions?

To be honest, you are going to spend more money trying to combat this yourself then if you hire a professional. Call several companies in your area. Try to stay away from the "big guys" because they have higher overhead and their charges reflect this. You really do want to go pro on this.

By the way, I would never use Sevin dust that way. It is not labeled to be used on bedding and can cause major health problems. Good luck to you!

I know when you get bitten just rub the rubbing alcohol on your bump and it will stop the itchness right away!
