Are You Safe From The Bed Bug Bites?

Someone please tell me how to treat bed bugs. OK, well we moved into a new house the other day and this house is infested with bed bugs, I am being biten every single night. I just want to eliminate insects, and if they are bed bugs, then I want to get rid bed bugs. If I have to kill bed bugs, I will. I’ve been doing alot of research online and this stories people are telling about thier experience is really freaking me out. Does Borax work? Does exterminating get rid of the problem? Im losing my mind already and we have only lived here for almost 4 days. The landlord thinks its nonthing serious, when you can actually see them crawling on the door frames?!?!?!?

Go to Ace Hdw or some other good hardware store..they sell a fumigant that you turn loose..Anything that you want to live..family, friends, pets..get them out of the house first.Otherwise you should call a good fumigant company….I am really astonished that anyone has bedbugs in this day & age..When I was a kid on the farm..some people had them..We had some in a chicken house..they crawl into cracks during the day..& come out & suck blood from the chickens at nite..My Dad sprayed the shed several times with tractor fuel..He finally got disgusted & burned the whole shed down..Back in those days..chemicals just weren’t available..they had sulphur cannisters that were lit like candles, to use in homes…

These bastards are so difficult to deal with. They'are like the german cockroaches, they don't suffer to even the bed bug spray that i bought these SOBs get on my last nerve.

Why are bed bugs making such a big comeback? Throw the mattress out and go buy one from a reputable place. Bed bugs were common years and years ago because of what they stuffed the mattresses with. Today they are supposed to be regulated and it is against the law to sell a second hand mattress ( from a store).Put the mattress out for the trash man.

I got some furnature from a storage unit auction and I want to make sure it doesn't have any bugs in it. Its been in there for a year or so. Can bedbugs survive that long without blood?

yes they hibernate can live for years

My wife and I live with the inlaws in S.E Asia, the house is normally immaculate. Our bed room is very small with a great deal of books and papers - she has a lot of clothes and little things everywhere. I picked up my book which is right next to the bed at night to see 3 of these little buggers run out from the pages - I squished them on sight! We've pulled the bed from the wall and thouroughly vacuumed it and the walls and crevices, tomorrow we plan to put all of the books and clothes in plastic bags with the hopes that if there are any more bed bugs - they will die in the plastic bags!

We really don't want to alert her mam as she WILL respond badly and look for someone to blame - so we'd prefer to get rid of these things without her knowing (or) if she were to find them herslef and we could just play dumb and be surprised!

They haven't really bit us all that much - we seldom have any bites do you think that this meens that there aren't so many bugs at this stage?

I read the other answers, and was surprised. Use a pesticide for goodness sake and clean up the mess. Wash linens in hot water, vacumn the matresses after the pesticide. Good luck. The sooner you address this problem the better. Do you know what all this critters can do to you? Infections leading to staphs gane-green. I hope you don't have kids sleeping in that house. They are most likely in all beds and around the whole house. You CAN SEE THEM WITH THE NAKED EYE.

How would I treat bed bug bites?

Hi, a family member and I went to someone's house in Long Island for a couple of days and we got what we think to be bed bug bites on both of our legs. Does anyone know how we would treat these bites and how to tell for sure if they even are bed bug bites?

There is no need to treat the bites if they are bed bug bites other to apply something like an anti-itch cream if they are itchy. You should tell your host/hostess as they need to ascertain whether or not they have an infestation. If they come across any "critters" it will be at night and they should submit them to a medical laboratory for identification. Bed bugs are heat seekers so at night, while you sleep, they sense your body heat and you become dinner :) They are blood feeders and so the bites are more annoying than anything else. That being said, keep the bite areas clean to avoid any secondary infection to the wound. Bed bugs will also seek out blood meals during the daytime…more often than not this will be bats in the attic since daytime is when they sleep.

Bed bugs are making a comeback in parts of North America that have typically not been problem areas. In my lab we went years without seeing any. Now I'd say we probably get them each month.
