Treat Bed Bugs

Are You Safe?

Every morning I wake up with more and more bites on me. Earlobe, arm, back, legs… They itch but are not painful. Yesterday I took all my covers off and saw a small, triangular, brown bug. It looked like a bed bug but not one I had seen before. I'm thinking of using a Bug Bomb (also known as a Fogger) to get rid of them, but my friend said they will return later on. Is there a permanent way to get rid of bed bugs?

Purchase a plastic, zip up cover for your mattress. The cover will prevent any more critters from infesting your mattress, and the ones that may already in your mattress will die along with the dust mites. Should you decide to purchase a new mattress altogether, get the cover on it and you won't have any problems with them in the future.

Further to a previous posting I still have bed bugs who appear on a alcove area next to my bed. I have spent hundreds on diy kits, sprays, foggers, powder but still they turn up the next day. I got in a professional pest controller, but again they came back next day.So I am at a loss as to how to get rid of them once and for all.

Summer,

Not sure what you tried already.

You may end up needing an exterminator again to deal with this but I think you should look at some do-it-yourself options that you can spray on your furniture including your mattress to see if it is salvagable.

There are several chemical free bedbug products available. The one that I have used is called BedBug Terminator and it is sold online by a company called Kleen-Free. It will kill the bedbugs on contact as well as their eggs. You just spray it everywhere for a few days.

You do need to be patient and persistent with this or any treatment as bedbugs hide well and can go weeks without feeding.

Also, not sure if you live in an apartment and if the bedbugs have spread or not but everyone needs to treat them and not just you - maybe you can split the cost of whatever you choose. They could be coming back because they are in an adjoining room.

Good luck.

Sue

I have recently learned that my new apartment is infested with bedbugs. I do not wish to have my apartment treated with harmful chemical pesticides that I could accidentally ingest or inhale from furniture fabrics. I am looking for a more natural remedy, if anyone should know of one.

Moonguardianluna,

Good for you for choosing a natural solutin instead of the chemical route.

Been having some bedbugs problem lately so just wondering what i can use against these bites.

This link will show you how to deal with bed bugs. The info comes from Harvard University's Department of Health: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/

Do you know of anything that will effectively do the job?.. If so, please let me know as I've had with bed bugs. I can't even sleep right anymore. Any tips would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow,

Nine answers already and not one has said that eventually you may need an exterminator. Amazing.

But before you head that direction you may want to try to deal with this on your own with some chemical free products that are effective on bedbugs.

There are several sprays that kill them and their eggs on contact like BedBugTerminator by Kleen-Free and a few others.

Ultimately you may need to get an exterminator in which will be costly and will need you to leave your apartment for a day or two while the chemicals wear off but you may want to start off with a do it yourself solution that works.

Good luck and hang in there.

I've been noticing that there are a lot of articles on bedbugs recently. I was wondering if you can contract bedbugs from another person? The reason I ask this is because my boss travels a lot and stays at mediocre hotels, so to speak.

Now if they can is there any way to protect myself from them?

Sort of. They wont be travelling on him. However there is potential for them to hitch a ride in his luggage, and then go home with him. Or say a brief case he had in the hotel and brought to the office. I think they would prefer the luggage to the brief case, but possible.

I'd check the website reports for infested areas and double check with places he's been. There is a report site I've ran across so do a search for it.

at the moment I dont have enough money to buy a new mattress and all those nigths on the couch are driving me nuts!, please someone help!

yuck - I would not consider that wasting money

I live in a large apartment complex in Raleigh, NC and I am in a prime target dwelling for bedbugs. I am worried that I am getting bitten. I expose my knees, thighs, arms, & head when I sleep. I sometimes feel vulnerable to bites. I wonder how people who sleep naked are gonna feel knowing these bedbugs are likely to attack. What if they nip at a penis or nipple? How bad would that hurt?

Bedbugs leave blood trails when they retreat to their hiding places such as behind headboards or between mattresses and box springs. It doesn't matter whether you sleep in your birthday suit or fully clothed. They move only while your asleep and will latch on to your skin and suck your blood wherever they can.

How can I tell if I have bedbugs?

Apr-27-2009 By admin

I just recently heard a talk on bedbugs, inadvertantly, and I'm wondering how I can tell if I have them and how to get rid of them.

Do wake up itchy with red marks on your body? No = no bed bugs. Yes = call an expert.

Did you have any luck?

Has anyone used other methods of self treatment that were successful?

I wouldn't suggest it. My grandpa tried to use a brand name electronic one and it ATTRACTED all sorts of bugs- mainly cockroaches. gross. spray insect repellent or something like that will work, from the home depot
